The Western Regional branch of Ghana Blind Union (GBU) on Saturday 16th January had the third edition of ‘Jawuley with the visually impaired,’ an annual party organized by online news portal www.233times in collaboration with Westline Entertainment and Corpnation, two organizations based in Sekondi-Takoradi.
At the party held at Star of the Sea Cathedral in Takoradi, sixty (60) members of the GBU together with their guides were present to welcome the New Year in a grand style.
The President of the Western Region branch of GBU Mr. Osei said that the members are grateful for this annual event that has become the only reason most of them are able to come out of their homes and have a good time. “There are a lot of our members who are always at home and don’t go anywhere so this has become the only reason why a lot of us are able to go out and have a good time every year, God bless the orgaizers and their supporters” Mr. Osei said.
The Chief Executive of Prestige Knight Enterprise Nana Kwesi Coomson who led the team to organize the party told the GBU members present that “God in His infinite wisdom brought our way generous donors who have given to make this party the biggest since we started last three years. So we go higher and higher every year; I pray God makes the lives of our donors bigger and bigger like He continues to make this party every year?”
Mr. Coomson used the opportunity to thank supporters and donors who helped to put the event together. “Like I always do every year, please permit me to mention the names of all our donors this year too – Nana Yaa Amoako-Adu, Uncle Ato – Canada, Adwoa Afriyie Addei – UK Cambridge, Mrs. Priscilla Arthur, Local drinks by Nananom Catering Services, Caterers – Owusua Bakery, Anaji Choicemart, Philip Osei Bonsu and OBPR, Sayvee and his Corpnation, Wennete Hope Foundation, Eagles Family Foundation, Deo Gratias Ventures, Jomelos Save a life Organisation, Atuahene Automobile and Aseda Foundation for pedicure and manicure and styling of hairs of all the females. I remember telling you last year that we had more support last year than last two years but I am excited to tell you that we had bigger support than last year, making this year’s the most supported since we started” he added.
He further challenged them, “like I challenge you every year, this year won’t be an exception, we are all looking forward to seeing businesses started by you, innovations that would be pointed to Ghana Blind Union, Western Region chapter and breaking limitations because limitations are what we put on our mind and not what is it.”
Aside eating and drinking, all female members of the GBU had their hair styled and all members had pedicure and manicure treatments. They as well took away gifts from the organizers and sponsors.
