Legon Student Nearly Commits Suicide Over Girlfriend’s Jilt

University of Ghana nearly recorded in its annals the demise of one of its students. Just after the University is recovering from the death of one of its male students who fell off from a balcony in the African Union Hall which is popularly known as Pentagon, another male tried following suit.

John Boadi, a final year student of Legon, who is known among his colleagues with the nickname ‘Poppy’ and a resident at Pentagon, jumped from his balcony, wanting to end his ‘precious’ life as a result of his girlfriend’s jilt. The girlfriend (name not available) who was fed up with Poppy as a result of finding a new lover, told him that she no longer can continue the relationship.

Finding the situation more unbearable, John decided to end his life in a wink, in a superman style. Not for the drying lines where the students hang their clothes to dry, he would have been a new admitted corpse at the 37 Military Mortuary. John Boadi who is in police custody at the University of Ghana Police Station is aiding the police in investigation into the whole brouhaha.  This incidence which occurred yesterday, 17th April, 2012 has become an additional topic to the students study as their examination is only 3 weeks away.

Eye witnesses in the hostel narrated to this reporter upon reaching the school. This reporter is following at the police station and will update readers on any new development.
