Los Angeles’ DJ619 Blasts Vodafone For Music Awards Ticket Price

Just after the release of the ticket price for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, there have been scads of criticisms about the pricing. Whilst some condemn the price, others argue in support of the Multinational Company, Vodafone, that they have a target audience for the show.

One voice which has added up to the chorus of people crying for reduction is Ace Presenter, Show Organiser and DJ, David Nyame, who is known on the turn table as DJ619. The Opanin Fm’s (Los Angeles) presenter, who upon reading a story about the price of the ticket for the awards by this reporter phoned to verify what he read. “How much is the ticket for the award Nana?” In a response, this reporter mentioned, “Its GH100.00 for ordinary and GH200.00 for VIP, Dollar equivalent is $65.00 for ordinary and $130.00 for the VIP”.

The amount infuriated DJ619 who is known in Los Angeles to be organizing shows for Ghanaian Artistes in the States. Clarifying his reason for being mad, he pressed that, “Do you know how much I paid to watch Drake, Trey Songs, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Ice Cube at the Honda Centre in Anaheim, California? $30.00! I went there with a friend and we paid $60.00 for both. That is even cheaper than what they are charging there” In a more convincing way to show how expensive the ticket price is, he added that, “When we brought Kojo Antwi and Flavor here, we charged $35.00 and people were still complaining about it and wanted a reduction. Even here in America, people complain of $35.00 and Ghana which is a 3rd world country. It’s too expensive man”

In an earlier release, this reporter had mentioned that, unless for some reasons more confidential than private, the ticket price is too expensive as it chorus across those yearning to witness the competitive categories in the Dome.

  1. At this time n with this type of economy that we are in you sure don’t expect anybody in the U.S to get $75 for a couple of hours show. The worst part about this case is that Ghana is a 3rd war country and people barely have jobs. This music award to me is for like young adult people students but how do u expect a student to get $75? Some people r just too greedy when it comes to organizing shows but then u may flownk either people r not gonna come to the show or probably boring. If you want the place to be nice pack n people to have fun, then the price must be suitable for all ages to attend.
