Gospel songstress, Esther Smith has disclosed that she is praying to God for direction about her love life before she decides whether to get married again or not.
Esther says her bitter experience in her previous marriage has made her very cautious so she is in no hurry to get married again.
Four years ago, Esther Smith and her husband Rev. Kwame Ahenkan Bonsu (to whom she had been married for four years) were involved in an acrimonious divorce that was played out in the Ghanaian media.
While the singer accused Rev Ahenkan of beating her up and having an affair with their house help, her husband also accused her of cheating on him with another man. After the accusations and counter accusations had been going on for some time, the marriage was dissolved.
In the midst of all that turmoil, Esther Smith, who was pregnant, was in Germany to deliver her third child with Rev Ahenkan and has been based there since then although she comes down to Ghana often.
In an interview with Adom Entertainment News, Esther said that she has decided to wait upon the Lord after the traumatizing experience she went through in her four year marriage adding that for now her main focus is on her children and her music career.
She came to Ghana recently and on Sunday, July 1 she organized a special concert to promote peace ahead of the December 7 general elections as well as to raise funds to support people suffering fromkidney diseases.
The multiple awards winner noted that the concert is her way of giving back to the society which has supported her over the years.
The event, which took place at the Assemblies of God church (former Calvary Charismatic Centre) was under the theme “Peace is the Way 2012”and attracted gospel music enthusiasts from all denominations.
Gospel giants like the winner of the Artiste of the Year at the just ended Ghana Gospel Industry Awards, Selina Boateng, Cecilia Marfo, Ernest Opoku, Evangelist Lord Kenya among others took turns to rock the stage and treated their fans to a repertoire of soul inspiring gospel music.
Esther Smith implored all her fans and the general public to preach unity and peace in Ghana as the elections approach.
