On the Monday, August 27 edition of the much exciting Late Nite Celebrity Show, the ‘FOKN Bois’ gave viewers and fans of the show much to giggle about as the ever controversial duo kept on churning out issues that drew lots of fun and laughter.
Aside spending time to talk about their ‘Big in Ghana’ concert which is being held in some parts of the country, Wanlov the Kubolor and Mensah shared some nostalgic memories during childhood.
First meeting and primary school
Narrating how they became friends in a controversial manner, they indicated that their being so close in life could have been made by God even before their mothers conceived them.
As characteristic of them, they teasingly revealed that even before meeting at Adisadel College as secondary school mates, they had met “in some bush somewhere.”
“I used to go to his class and lie to his teachers that someone was looking for him and I will just take him out of the classroom and just go into some empty class and we will be rapping the whole day,” Wanlov revealed.
“Before that, we met and we just greeted each other in a forest in Nsawam, ” Mensah added sharply.
“We were Boys’ Scouts. We had come from our different schools and we met for some few seconds in the bush during a flag war to come and meet later in Adisco,” the ever intriguing Wanlov said.
Born Emmanuel Owusu Bonsu, Wanlov told Dzifa Smith that he has no intention of changing his adopted name, ‘Kubolor’ which when literally translated means ‘truant’ because “It is too late.”
“The place I have reached, I can’t do U-turn.”
Reflecting on his days in primary school, Wanlov recounts that, “I remember being the boy who will come into the field with his soccer ball and if I don’t get selected, I will take the ball away.”
“I also remember slapping Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings (daughter of ex president Jerry Rawlings) for kicking our ludo game which we were playing in class four. She kicked it deliberately,” Wanlov revealed.
Genre of Music
Talking about the genre of music they do, Bonzy Osukor Sankara Mensah Ansah, better known as Mensah said, “We as FOKN Bois, we do Gospel Christian Porn Rap. It is what we do, we do Christian music. We mention Christ and we thank God we are not Nigerians.”
Visibly shocked at this revelation, hostess, Dzifa Smith asked for elaboration on their claim of being gospel artistes, and according to Mensah, “ ‘Thank God we are not a Nigerians’ is our first gospel song and we have another Christian song, ‘Jesus is coming’ on our new album.”
The ever controversial music duo are on a nationwide tour to promote their new album and unveil new talents they have discovered in the country.
Performing alongside previous Late Nite Celebrity Show guests, Yaa Pono and Efya, the FOKN Bois have already been to Takoradi and Tema. They will be in the Garden City on the August 31 to continue with their tour and crown it all in Accra on September 1.
