Juliet Ibrahim and Confidence Haugen makes a donation to 2 kidney failure patients

Ever since the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation was launched, the actress and her team has come up with so many events to help raise money to fund a transplant but none could meet a quarter of GH¢ 60,000 fee for the transplant. And since the patients are mandated for a three times dialysis treatment per week, money raised from these events ends up funding a number of treatments with each dialysis treatment costing GH¢ 150 hence GH¢ 450 for just a week.

Ms Cynthia Manu Greaves, Juliet Ibrahim’s first employer and gym director had to sell most of her assets in other to keep her alive since she had no source at the initial stage to fund her treatment and has been on dialysis treatment since 2007. Currently, she lives with her mother at Teshie Nungua and hope to wake up one day and say; “it’s all well for I thought I was sick but it was all a dream”. The fifty four years old woman is a mother of two and she’s very grateful to God for the lovely support from friends, families, the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation and now the Project Smiles of Confidence Haugen. “I do little work here and there but I have good friends and relatives who give me money to help pay for my treatment. At times when the day comes and I have no money, I knock door to door, tell them my problem and beg them for money. I know it’s strange but I have to because I need to survive” Auntie Cynthia reveals her funding secrets.

All things being equal, Madam Janet Donkor, a single parent on the other hand sold out her mini super market when the doctors declared her 15 year old son, Richard Kusi Yeboah as a kidney failure patient. Having been tested, she is willing to offer one of her kidney to her son but lost hope when all the means to raised GH¢ 60,000 failed.

After Confidence accompanied Juliet Ibrahim to visit the Kidney patients one week ago, she attests to the effort of the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation and congratulates them for how far they’ve come without any governmental support or whatsoever. Last week, with her Project Smiles (NGO), Confidence joined the JIF crew as they brought together their kidney patients from various hospitals to the Teshie Family Hospital for dialysis treatment. She interacted with the patients giving them a strong hope that all was not lost yet. She was so touched to know that the patients actually have a chance to live a normal life if they had money. “Thanks for bringing Project Smiles on board, with joint forces we can raise the expected amount” Confidence hugs Juliet. The doctors for the transplant are due to be in the country in February next year hence a joint foundation (Juliet Ibrahim Foundation and Project Smiles) are putting together another event to raise over GH¢ 120,000 before February and this time with God’s favour, they hope to exceed the target.

Speaking to Juliet, she says the call is not one person’s; therefore, she’s so glad that Project Smiles has joined the fight. “If I had known I would have approached her ever since because I explained to some colleagues thinking they’ll come on board but… Confidence has a clean heart and God will richly bless her.” Tears drops from Juliet soft eyes.
