President John Mahama has appointed the Communications Director for his campaign in last year’s elections, Ms Hannah Tetteh as Ghana’s Foreign Minister.
A source at the presidency said Ms Tetteh’s appointment is in recognition of her unparalleled capabilities as an excellent diplomat.
She will replace Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, who is now the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu.
The president’s list of appointees is said to be ready and will be forwarded to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting of the nominees.
It is expected that the Energy Ministry will be divided into two ministries so that one ministry would focus on solving the country’s intractable power challenges.
Ms Hannah Tetteh is the immediate past Trade Minister but still acts in that capacity because President Mahama directed all outgoing ministers to keep their portfolios in care-taker capacities whilst his new appointees are vetted and approved by Parliament.
She is also the newly elected Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West.
More soon.
