Some health tips you can you steal from President Obama

973ada5ec5bb32d0_obama_eating.xlargeBarack Obama is considered to be one of the fittest presidents that have ever been elected. He admits that he does smoke the occasional cigarette, but he is generally a very healthy person.

So what tips can you steal from the President?

“I tend to be a healthy eater. So I probably could get away with cutting my workouts back a little bit. The main reason I do it is just to clear my head and relieve me of stress. It’s a great way to stay focused.”

Here are just a few of things the President does to stay healthy:

He works out regularly…

Obama runs everyday. Cardio fitness plays a large role in maintaining his slim figure. He does not carry much muscle, and has almost no excess fat. He runs approximately 3 miles everyday that he can.

His typical workout is 45 minutes long; he does cardio two days a week and weight training four days, alternating between lower and upper-body workouts.

President Obama also has a tradition of playing pick-up basketball on important occasions.

At the White House, President Obama has quick access to an outdoor basketball court and indoor gym equipment (not to mention a bowling alley, swimming pool, and jogging track). He can even have a treadmill on Air Force One.

President Obama’s Favorite Recipe

Just some of the Commander-in-Chief’s favorite foods include:

Scallops
Tilapia
Trail mix
Granola bars
Vegetables (especially broccoli and spinach)
Dentyne Ice
Hawaiian Plate Lunch (scoops of rice, macaroni salad, and a meat dish)
Chili
Raisins
Pistachios

Foods he isn’t so crazy about include:

Mayonnaise
Salt and vinegar potato chips
Beets
Asparagus
Soft drinks

He indulges…

Ironically, being healthy isn’t always about only eating what’s right for you. Indulging every now and then keeps you happy, satisfied…and more willing to be healthier in general, since your body doesn’t think it’s being deprived.

Some of the President’s guilty pleasure foods are:

Pie
Pizza
Cheeseburgers
Macaroni & Cheese
