409,754 candidates, consisting of 220,866 males and 188,881 females, from 724 public and private senior high schools (SHSs) sit to battle admission into the various Universities across the country via the West Africa Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSE).
This is so far the largest number of Candidates taking the Examination as a result of 2 batches; the last batch of four-year SHS students under the 2007 educational reform policy with the first batch of three-year SHS students.
This Examination is taken by Nationals of sister African countries like Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone simultaneously.
