I love Azonto and Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption song’- Archbishop Palmer Buckle

Away from the Bible, the different prayers from the Catholic Religion and out of sight from the Parish and all its religious environs, the Accra Archbishop the Rt. Reverend Palmer Buckle made an appearance on the sofas of Ghanaian Prime Time Friday Night television talk show TGIF hosted by the ever funny KSM.

The Archbishop having talked about his childhood days gave an insight how he was disciplined by his parents back then. To him, he appreciated that and is ever grateful to his parents for that dude to the fact that it has brought him this far.  And he holds the faith that the rod shouldn’t be spared for “carrots” as he puts it because that’s the root of damaging the beautiful Ghanaian Society we have.

Getting into a more relaxed position, the Archbishop mentioned tennis as a hobby and quickly added that he no longer does that due to the fact that when he gets on the Tennis Lawn to catch some fun that is when people come and discuss Church and Religious issues.

www.233times.net guess his tennis lawn visits now always ends in giving sermons and religious debates or teachings.  Swimming he mentioned is another love of his heart but had to forgo that too because as soon as he hits the pool, Paparazzis pursue him.

Touching on his talents, Rt. Reverend Palmer Buckle mentioned singing and that’s where he dropped the bombshell although before that, he talked about being invited to Jamaican Catholic Church for their anniversary to preach and he spiced it up by doing a song from a genre he loves reggae.

According to him the late Bob Marley is the High Priest of Reggae and he fancies his masterpiece, “REDEMPTION SONG”. KSM then offered Father Buckle a guitarist and requested he sang him his (Rt. Reverend Father Buckle) all time reggae song “REDEMPTION SONG”.  According to father Buckle the words are very important where Africa finds itself in the world and here I share a few of the words from the song.

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery

None but ourselves can free our minds

Have no fear for atomic energy

Cause none of them can stop the time

How long shall they kill our prophets?

While we stand aside and look? Ooh!

Some say it’s just a part of it:

We’ve got to fulfill de book

Won’t you help me sing?

These songs of freedom?

Cause all I ever have:

Redemption Song

Redemption Song

Redemption Song”

Father Buckle added his love for dance and mentioned he can do most of the various traditional dances but was quick to add he loved Azonto. He confessed Azonto captures his attention although he claims some of the moves are too sensual to him.

Azonto is a phenomenal dance due to the intricate body movements and attitudes people combine to give off a good show of Azonto.

Has Azonto received a divine endorsement then?
