The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong is not happy with the silence of ex-President Rawlings in the wake of gross corruption by some leading officials of the Mahama administration.
He insisted that corrupt practices in the Acheampong’s regime in the late 1970s forced Mr. Rawlings to stage a Coup d e’tat.
Mr. Agyapong said though he frowns on Coup d e’tat, the ex-Ghana leader, who is noted for his outburst, should condemn the rampant corruption in government.
The Assin Central MP said Mr. Rawlings did not hesitate to condemn corruption and other bad practices which occurred during the Mills administration.
“Where is Rawlings,” he asked on Nhyira FM in Kumasi.
Former President Rawlings was critical of former President Mills. His rampant outburst against the government even earned him a nickname ‘Mr. Boom.’
Hon. Agyapong said Mr. Rawlings was silent because members of his political party were involved.
The Assin Central MP said Mr. Rawling’s quietness on pressing national issues was unusual.
Touching on other national issues, Hon. Agyapong flatly debunked claims that he intends to cause commotion in the country.
Setting the records straight, the NPP bigwig noted that his recent comments had nothing to do with instigating the youth and for that matter the public to cause commotion in the country, stressing that corrupt practices by officials should be condemned by all.
Life In Danger
The Assin Central MP claimed some unknown people believed to be NDC goons recently threatened to cut his manhood on phone.
He said he received the threatening call after he had descended heavily on the current Mahama administration.
According to him, the one who called him threatened to put his manhood in his mouth.
Mr Agyapong described the person as a coward, stressing that he should face him directly.
