Social Media is one platform Celebrities use in getting closer to their fans. This task has been almost successful with great impact. Celebrities are gradually refraining from using the Social Media especially Facebook. But some do have enough reason to buttress their stand of not getting involved in the virtual world. A lot of scams, fraudulent acts and scandals have also forced some celebrities out of one social media or the other. .
“Facebook wuld (would) ve bin the best way 2 chat with fans. But sorry a lot of dis fake acc (account) are now using them 2 Scam the fans” Peter Okoye of P Square tweeted on Thursday May 16. Prior to that, Peter tweeted “I REPEAT we no longer communicate via Facebook. Fraudsters will “chop your money” BE WARNED”.
With these tweets www.233times.net was lead to fish out what was really going on and your authentic medium gathered with facts that one fan who follows Peter brought to his attention a Facebook account of the twin musicians he saw on Facebook. From there other followers of Peter on twitter admitted knowing the existence of the group and one even mentioning she has been scammed by administrators of the said page.
To which this is the tweets she had with Peter on his verified Twitter Account. “It’s sad…Sory about dat RT @TamaraRacewin: @PeterPsquare how come I allowed myself to be scamed? was I just been stupid or something? Right now so scared of Facebook!”
Just like fire which has its good and bad side, Facebook gave P SQUARE a bad brush of the face to which they have stated their stand and done enough good to fans to be aware of such imposters on Facebook. Thinking deep into it, would Facebook verification of Accounts of Public Personalities just like Twitter make it more secured and safe? Will that solve the issue or not is yours to also say let’s hear your thoughts on this.
