GH¢30,000 Cash Prize For 2013 FA Cup Winners

images (6)One of Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC will walk home with a cash prize of GH¢30,000 as winner of the 2013 MTN FA Cup on Saturday, June 15 at the Accra Sports Stadium, footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

Asante Kotoko are on the verge of a double after reaching their second MTN FA Cup final in three years when they defeated Amidaus Professionals 3-1 in Accra while Medeama SC fought from a goal down to beat record holders Hearts of Oak 2-1 in the other semi-final game in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.

The GH¢30,000 cash reward for the 2013 FA Cup edition is a 20% increase from the last edition received by New Edubiase (GH ¢25,000). The champions will also be decorated with 35 gold medals and be presented a trophy as well as hold Ghana’s ticket to the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Footy-Ghana can also confirm that, for their troubles the runners up will receive GH¢15,000 in addition to 35 silver medals as well as other souvenirs from title sponsors MTN.

The prize money of the FA Cup has seen some significant increase year by year since telecommunication giants MTN took over as title sponsors in a three-year deal.

Nania FC received 20,000 cedis for emerging as champions of the 2011 competition while runners up Asante Kotoko, also received a sum of GH¢5,000.

There was a 25% increase for the current title holders Edubiase who took home GH¢25,000 whereas losing finalists AshantiGold received GH¢10,000.
