Metro TV workers embark on strike over non- payment of allowances

286657_383785745044807_348003311_oWe gathered workers of Metro TVon Friday morning embarked on sit-down strike over non- payment of their allowances including holiday, overtime as well as anchor’s special duty allowances.

The workers say, management has failed to address their concerns in their Collective Bargaining agreement.

This sit down strike is expected to affect the company’s flagship program, Good morning Ghana this morning as well as other major programs.

Chairman of the Local Chapter of the Communication Workers Union of Metro TV Samuel Anobah told Citi Business News, they will only return to work if management pays them their money.

‘’We have withdrawn the service of our membership until further notice; we have written to management thrice before we decided to embark on this sit down strike.’’

He adds that “the money was supposed to be paid last Wednesday; but they did not meet that deadline hence today’s decision.”
