This year’s Ghana Music Awards was characterized with lot of “talkables”. From the improvement on the set design and the ‘disco lights’ which was too much but added loads of beauty to the event. The beautiful beginning of introducing presenters and the addition of little win the local language comedian who got everyone laughing in the absence of Funny Face. To cut a long story short this year’s was awesome and we didn’t hear people asking on twitter whether it was a nursery school’s speech and prize giving day.
One incident that got the whole Ghana jaw dropping was the Shatta Wale behavior after losing an award to the young budding Kaakie. Need we explain whether she deserved it or not? We all know the truth about that incident and the truth shall always be one. And most Ghanaians were happy about who the award went to. So then out goes Shatta wale raining insults on the organizers of the show and ending up using words vulgar to describe Kaakie on social media. Until now after Shatta Wale’s “Bandana from Ghana” track years ago when he was only known as BANDANA he had lost in touch on music lovers in Ghana. Only a hand full knew that BANDANA of old is the same as Shata Wale of today.
The next morning SHATTA WALE released a track “A LETTER TO CHARTERHOUSE” where he gave them a long line of insult calling them all sort of names he could find. More Ghanaians debunked him than supported him but truth be told, today his music career has been resurrected and SHATA WALE is like the new musician on the block. All of a sudden, his tracks are back on the air waves and everyone is enjoying it. This is his shinning period and performing on shows he did not have the opportunity to, even before the whole Ghana Music Awards incidence. Now Shatta Wale is known in Showbiz circle. This is termed publicity stunt but since it wasn’t planned, it’s like a kind of natural publicity stunt because things fell in place for his music and brand.
I know how now his twitter follows have doubled more than 2000+. This shows the impact of how a bad incidence brought something good. A blessing in disguise you may call it. But my big question is this
“WHO REALLY RESURRECTED SHATA WALE, IS IT KAAKIE OR CHARTER HOUSE”
