Drake says Kendrick Lamar “is not murdering me, at All”

Few rappers have taken the solitary approach when it concerns Kendrick Lamar’s celebrated verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” but according to Canadian singer/rapperDrake, he simply “kept it moving” after hearing K-Dot’s raucous verse.

As part of a cover story for Billboard magazine, Drake spoke on the record numerous rappers have either responded to lyrically or voiced their opinion on via Twitter or in various media interviews.

The Young Money wordsmith went on to describe Kendrick’s verse as “an ambitious thought” and expressed his belief that the TDE rapper didn’t outdo him in any way.

“I didn’t really have anything to say about it. It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me,” Drake revealed. “That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”

With his newly-launched OVO Sound, Drake also expressed his concern over issues that may arise when an artist is responsible for signing other artists.

“Being an artist that’s signed to another artist, I understand how much of a representation I am of that artist,” he explained. “So I want to be extremely selective. I want artists who are, first and foremost, genuinely good people who are good to be around, and second, who have pure talent and will make me look smart for signing them.”
