Only a fool would want to cause violence in this country”, says governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organiser, Ludwig Hlordze.
Speaking in connection with peace campaigns ahead of the anticipated declaration of the final verdict on the election petition case, Mr. Hlordze said anybody who ignores all the various efforts at different levels toward engendering peace and rather festers mayhem after the pronouncement of the verdict, is a “fool”.
He said considering the fact that the petitioners and respondents have both committed themselves to ensuring peace, it would be out of place for anybody to be untoward.
According to him, the commitment shown by the Chairmen of political parties as well as the first petition Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the first respondent, President John Mahama, is enough evidence that the country is not prepared for violence.
Hlordze told the media after a joint programme organised by the two youth groups of the parties involved in the election petition case, to promote peace.
Ghana’s Supreme Court will pronounce the final verdict on August 29 after months of arguments and submission of evidence in Court by both parties to prove their case.
The main opposition New Patriotic Party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, is, together with his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and party Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, challenging the presidential poll results on grounds the elections were fraught with irregularities.
The respondents – President John Mahama, the Electoral Commission and the NDC are arguing otherwise.
