The majority in Parliament has defended the credibility of Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan.
The majority lawmakers say the EC boss has led a team of commissioners who have on consistent basis, transformed the electoral system in the country since 1992.
They have rejected calls for Dr Afari Gyan’s resignation, by some opposition groups.
MP for North Dayi and deputy ranking member of the Public Accounts Committee George Loh speaking to XYZ News said calls for the EC boss to resign are unfortunate.
“Afari Gyan’s credibility still stays intact, he is still the best electoral commissioner we have in Africa and we are proud of it”.
Mr. Loh has also rejected claims by former President Kufour that the EC can’t be the appropriate institution to lead the way for electoral reforms, following calls for such reforms to take place ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.
