Gucci Mane has been sentenced to six months in prison for violating the terms of his probation.
The charges levelled at the US rapper date back to September when Gucci Mane was discovered in possession of marijuana and a concealed handgun. Additional charges relate to a count of disorderly conduct. Spin reports he was sentenced to the jail term on Friday (September 27).
Gucci Mane’s recent Twitter rant, in which he launched a scathing attack on fellow rappers Drake and alleged to having had sex with Nicki Minaj as well as telling two employees at Atlantic Records to “suck my dick”, was the result of what the rapper describes as an addiction to codeine. Tweeting about his problems following the initial comments, Gucci Mane wrote: “Woke up the other day out this hospital bed & I’m so embarrassed & ashamed of my behavior that was brought to my attention. I just wanna man up right now & take this time to apologize to my family, friends, the industry & most of all my fans. I’m sorry!”
Earlier this year, in a separate case, Mane pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon, following an alleged altercation in which he struck a fan on the head with a champagne bottle. US soldier James Lettley claimed that the rapper had attacked him in a nightclub in Atlanta, but Mane has denied the charges, with his attorney Drew Finding stating: “He’s out on bond, just going about his life.”
