 Though the current administration has urged Ghanaians to exercise patience since the bus of governance is running on first gear, Director of Communications for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Henry Haruna Asante, wants President John Dramani Mahama to tell the general public exactly when they should expect his promise of accelerated development.
The president, last week, told a gathering at Awutu Senya in the Central region that he will soon change to second, third and fourth gear to accelerate development in the country. He, however, failed to give Ghanaians the specific time-frame that the assurance will come to fruition.
Henry Asante pointed out that prior to the 2012 elections, the NDC government told Ghanaians the economy was robust, and to expect utopia under his administration. He therefore wondered how come the “meat had been eaten to the bone” within just a year of President Mahama’s reign.
Speaking on Hot Fm, an Accra-based private radio station, the PNC communicator dared the President to indicate to Ghanaians exactly when to expect the shifting of gears of first to fourth.
“……President Mahama says we should give him time but we have heard this for far too long. The President did not give us the time frame for which we should wait; up to when should we wait for him to move the country from first to fourth gear?” he quizzed the President.
He called on the President to wake up from his colloquial mentality of 4 gear buses and embrace the modern buses of 6 gears to facilitate development; meaning that the President should give Ghanaians a target he can achieve in the next two years.
Assessing the current hardship in the country, Henry Haruna Asante posited “at the end of the day and after we have observed the happenings in our lives and where we have reached; collectively we are only existing and not living. We are just passing through life without any direction.” |
