The Mile 7 District Police Command has discovered the body of a woman who was killed and callously dumped in a dustbin near Morning Star High School at Tantra Hill.

The body of the deceased, yet to be identified, was discovered in a residential rubbish container covered and nailed with 4-inch nails on both sides.

There were signs of violent marks on the body, which was forced in the container, with an unbearable stench emanating from it.

DSP Peter Yembillah, the Mile 7 District Police Commander, who led a team of police personnel to the scene early yesterday morning, toldDAILY GUIDE that the body was obviously dumped in the area by those responsible for the woman’s death.

Sanitary workers of Morning Star High School said they discovered the dustbin in front of the school around 3:00am when they were doing their daily routine cleaning on the school compound.

The labourers said they suspected foul play because of the stench emanating from the dustbin. It was when they attempted opening it that they realised it was nailed on both sides.

When they finally opened the dustbin, they discovered the horrible spectacle of the dead woman dumped inside it and quickly reported the matter to the head of the school, Adusei Opoku.

The school’s head, on his part, reported the matter to the police around 9:30am yesterday.

When policemen visited the scene and opened the dustbin, the body was at a complete state of decomposition.

Preliminary investigations gathered by the police indicated that the woman might have been strangled to death by her killers.

“There were traces of car tyre marks at the spot where the body was dumped, which means that the killers carried the body from the murdered destination and intentionally dropped it in front of the school,” police said.

The deceased’s tongue was stuck out with the eye-balls protruding, aside the physical marks of assault all over the body.

The woman was wearing a pair of blue “leggings” and a black blouse and was wrapped in a white bed sheet.

Personnel from the Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Service were immediately invited to the scene to inspect the body thoroughly before it was sent to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

An eyewitness at the scene said the container had been there since Friday October 5, 2013.

DSP Yembillah appealed to families with missing persons to help the police identify the body.

He also urged individuals who might have any information leading to the arrest of the killers to report to the police.
