3rd year University Students drowned in Volta River (photo)

240x_mg_e38lco4bbv_6501303359555_6891286149155The deceased, Edward Alele 22 and Charles Honesty 20, all Nigerians, were among 200 students from Knustford University College, East Legon, Accra who travelled to Akosombo as part of activities marking the school’s Students Representative Council (SRC) Week celebrations.

The National Disaster Management Orgnasition (NADMO) in Asuogyaman District said the students got drowned after a local canoe they had hired to cruise on the river capsized Friday, November 22 at about 2:15 pm.

The local fishermen in the area helped to retrieve the bodies of the deceased

The deceased bodies are at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.
