“I can tell you that, I have what it takes to become NPP Presidential Candidate even more than many of those names out there and I can beat Alan Kyeremateng hands down but with Nana Akufo-Addo; it will be a little difficult,” says Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, NPP MP for Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region.
The vociferous Assin Central MP told listeners on HELLO FM, a Kumasi-based radio station that he is more than capable to lead NPP as a flagbearer to deliver power to the party, but that is not his focus now.
To him, many of those aspiring to lead the party are not popular.
To another question whether he can beat Nana Akufo-Addo and Alan Kyeremanteng, the Assin Central MP said “I can beat Alan hands down but with Nana Addo, it will be a little difficult for me.
“I can also tell you that I will not contest for the Assin Central seat again because of too many demands from many Ghanaians across the country. I want to have enough time for my business and also follow the next flagbearer of the NPP to campaign for power come 2016 across the country,” he explained.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong said what was currently happening in the National Democratic Congress government led by President Mahama was clearly the hands of God.
According to him, the corruption in the government and the system has reached apex level to the extent that government officials like Mr. Alban Bagbin and others can no more keep their silence.
The Assin Central MP said he now understood why former President Kufuor didn’t appoint many young Ministers and Deputy Ministers due to what he described as “massive grabbing of public money by the young Ministers and Deputy Ministers under President Mahama’s administration.”
He suggested that current and subsequent Presidents should only appoint people who have already made it in life or persons who are already well to do as Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State to avoid or reduce the gargantuan looting of the state funds.
