Nii Odartey Lamptey details: My wife cheats on me; the kids are not mine after DNA test revealed

odartey_lampteyFormer Black Stars player Nii Odartey Lamptey says after 20 years of marriage with his wife Gloria, he has just found out that he is not the biological father of their three children.

The former footballer said a DNA test conducted on the children to establish their paternity revealed that he did not father even one of them. All three belongs to another man; a man unknown to him. Impliedly, the wife cheated on him.

Sounding rather sorrowful, Nii Odartey Lamptey made the shocking revelation Thursday afternoon in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Neat 100.9FM.

Odartey Lamptey, however, refused to give further details with the explanation that he and Gloria were currently in court over their divorce procedure and that he did not want to say anything that may be deemed prejudicial.

Odartey Lamptey and Gloria actually had five children; at least that was what the world was made to believe. However, two of the children died. And it the remaining three who have been medically proven as not belonging to Odartey Lamptey, thereby, raising doubts about the paternity of the deceased two.

This writer in a previous interview with Odartey, asked him about his wife and this was his response: Her name is Gloria. She comes from a rich background and the father, Christian Kofi was one of Kwame Nkrumah’s right hand men. She once contested Miss Ghana. People did not want me to marry her. When my mother died people said I was not taking care of her and that I had killed her because of my wife. I know I did my best for my parents. I bought a house and a car for my mother and gave her all she needed.”

Odartey Lamptey, at age 16, was arguably the youngest player of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, and he is best remembered for his outstanding performance during Senegal 92 and Tunisia 94.

He was nominated in 1991 as the Best Footballer of the Year after banging 11 goals in 39 games. In the same year, he was nominated as the World’s Youth Best Player after scoring five goals in six games during the Under 17 World Championship in Italy.
