Arthur Kobina Kennedy has finally let the cat out of the bag confirming speculations he was preparing to contest for the second time as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Arthur Kennedy is among four people in the NPP, with the title ‘Dr’ who have generated controversy by focusing on the negative about the NPP and its leadership, the pro-NPP paper says.
In an interview on Asempa FM yesterday, the US-based medical practitioner said it would not be in line with the democratic culture of the NPP if Nana Akufo-Addo was nominated to lead the party for 2016 without a contest.
The host, Captain Smart, reminded Dr Arthur Kennedy that it was very possible that no other presidential candidate would pick up nomination forms to contest the popular Akufo-Addo.
In response, Or Arthur Kennedy said, “I will contest.” In his view, Nana Akufo-Addo must be contested again for the sake of democracy, even if it is very obvious that no other candidate can give the 2008 and 2012 flagbearer any meaningful competition.
In 2007, he was among the 18 people who filed their nominations to contest the vacant leadership position. He received a single vote (1) out of the 2,300 delegates.
