380 die in road accidents in Ashanti Region

87410219Three hundred and eighty people were killed in 1,390 road accidents in the Ashanti Region in 2013.

The Regional Commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), Chief Superintendent Peter Gyimah, who announced this, said 1,495 others were injured.

According to him, a total of 1,988 vehicles, including commercial, private and motor bikes were involved in the crashes.

He stated that they would do everything to enforce road traffic regulations to restore some level of discipline and assured motorists and pedestrians of their safety.

He also called for public cooperation and understanding as they step up efforts to promote road safety.

“Careless driving and neglect of maintenance would have to end,” the MTTU Commander added.
