The 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP),Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah has advised members of the party to adopt new strategies to ensure that the party wins in 2016.
This, he said, will be possible if party members “pull their strength together and fight their political enemies rather than themselves.”
Speaking to delegates from the various branches of the party at Charlotte in the United States of America, the one time deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana noted that although the electoral commission engaged in several malpractices during the 2012 elections, they were exposed at the Supreme Court.
“It was manifestly clear that the Electoral Commission was caught red handed forging 17 pink sheets,”Dr Bawumia said.
He further stated that seeking redress for rigging in elections, is not the best option for electoral victory.
”You are all living witnesses that we assembled the best document and had the best lawyers, our arguments were well coordinated and well delivered, we told the judges that the entire elections were fraught with malpractices but in the end what was the outcome…? It tells us that the court is certainly not the option for victory,” he opined.
Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia also challenged members of the party to be vigilant at polling stations in the 2016 elections.
Present at the function were Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Ms. Adwoa Safo Member, Dr Authur Kennedy, and other members of the party.
