Establishment of fund to cater for Komla Dumor’s children – GJA suggests

1559784_616761111724572_1424725141_nThe president of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), Affail Monney, is asking for the establishment of a fund to cater for the children of the late BBC presenter, Komla Dumor.

“We are proposing that his kids should also receive a state attention by way of instituting a fund to cater for the children,” he said.

The late Dumor died last Saturday at his home in London after a cardiac arrest. He left behind a wife and three children.

Speaking to Citi News after signing the book of condolence for the late broadcaster at the Ghana International Press Centre, Mr. Monney explained that the gesture will encourage other journalists who literally kill themselves for the job.

He also stated that considering the tremendous outpour of grief over the tragic loss of Mr. Dumor and the tributes attesting to his professional excellence, the best way for the state to honour him is to give him a befitting state burial.

Mr. Monney further suggested “awarding him [Komla Dumor] one of the highest state awards because he had toiled for it and he has died for it.”

The remains of the late Dumor is scheduled to be brought home to Ghana for the funeral and burial rights.
