Freddie Blay picks NPP forms: to contest Vice Chair post

download (2)A Former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Freddie Blay, was among aspiring members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who picked forms on Monday, January 27, 2014, when the party opened nominations for its impending national executive elections.

A former member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr Blay was represented by his agent to pick the Vice Chairmanship forms at NPP’s headquarters in Accra.

A lawyer by profession, Mr Blay represented the CPP in Parliament for the Ellembelle Constituency from 1997 until 2008, when he lost his seat to National Democratic Congress’ Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah in that year’s elections.

At least 21 aspirants picked nomination forms on Monday in readiness for vetting, which follows a successful completion and submission of the forms.

The nomination forms cost Ghc500.

“Filing fees for Chairpersons and Vice shall be Ghc3,000 and Ghc2000 for all other officers,” the NPP had stated earlier.

“I can tell you in this contest, no position is lying low,” Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Director of Elections for NPP pointed out to TV3’s Sandra Afenu.

“Every position is being fiercely contested,” he added.

The national executive elections are scheduled to come off on March 1, 2014 across the country.
