Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said he will form his own political party if National Chairman for the NPP, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey regains his seat in the upcoming national elections of the party.
The NPP is set to go for elections in March to elect new national executives to lead the party to the 2016 general elections.
Speaking on Adom FM/Asempa FM “Burning Issues” on Monday, Ken Agyapong, a major party financier, said the current executives have failed the party and that led them into opposition.
He expressed the wish that all of the national executives would lose their seats, and swore to do everything within his power to bring the party down if any of them retained their seat.
“I am setting aside $20 million to tour the whole of the country to campaign against all the current national executives,” he said.
Kennedy Agyapong said he was shocked that the national executive did not get money to pay delegates in the just ended regional elections, leaving them stranded after the elections at their various polling stations.
Kennedy Agyapong was recently referred to the party’s judicial committee to answer questions on allegations of fraud he made against party national executive.
But the charged: “The current national executives are incompetent and that I will not attend to any judicial committee invitations by them and I promise to resign from Parliament if they try to sack me from the party. I will just write a letter to the Speaker and resign.”
He said the NPP currently needs national executives like Dan Botwe and Agyenim Boateng who fought to bring the party back from opposition and not people who are unwilling to sacrifice for the party.
Agyapong however believes the current executive can succeed if only they could stop the ongoing Allan-Nana politics that is currently deepening the division in the party.
