The Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) has revealed that it is yet to receive any official announcement from the camp of Aryeetey Powers over his decision to withdraw from the April 18 bout with Braimah Kamoko.
The boxer made the revelation earlier on Thursday to the disappointment of the many who had purchased tickets for the bout planned for live broadcast to the African continent on SuperSport and TV3 for Ghanaian audiences.
However, the GBA told Citi Sports in an interview on Thursday, Powers had not communicated officially to the governing body.
“We, as the GBA, have not heard from Powers over his decision. The GBA boss, Peter Zweenes, is not even aware of this as he is in court.
Officially, we have not been informed and I am telling our members to note that point.
As far as we know, the fight between Braimah Kamoko and Aryeetey Powers will still take place on the 18th of April, 2014.”
