Boxer Ayittey Powers is demanding his anticipated bout with Bukom Banku be put on hold indefinitely. The bout was recently rescheduled to May 16 from May 2 at Powers’ behest.
It is not clear why Powers is putting in a second request for an indefinite suspension of the bout but checks by XYZ Sports revealed that his representatives have informed the Box Office Promotions about his emotional and psychological unpreparedness.
Spokesperson for the Ghana Boxing Authority, Naa Darkua Dodoo, confirmed Powers’ request for an indefinite hold on the bout. She said the GBA is disappointed with the latest development.
According to her, Powers’ indecisiveness about the bout has led to the bout’s promos being put on hold.
She said confused fans are also returning their tickets. A final decision will be taken by the GBA on Monday at an emergency meeting.
Powers first pulled out of the bout on the orders of his spiritual father, Prophet T B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
