‘Dumsor dumosr’ (load shedding) extended for two more weeks

download (9)The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has extended the load management schedule for two more weeks.

The load management timetable was announced three weeks ago due to the shortage of gas supply from Nigeria.

Power providers, Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have all attributed the shortfall in power supply to the insufficient supply of gas from Nigeria.

The President subsequently sent the Energy Minister, Emmanuel Kofi Buah to negotiate with the authorities of the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) to increase gas supply to Ghana.

Speaking to Citi News, the Head of Public Affairs at the ECG, William Boateng said the new schedule will be announced on Tuesday.

He noted that although the load shedding exercise is being extended for an extra two weeks, “we have seen some marginal improvement because during the day like this for the past two weeks, we have not been shedding the load.”

The extension has been published in the dailies to keep the public informed.
