The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has appointed I. Offeh Gyimah as its new Acting Chief Executive in Kumasi.
He has effectively replaced Prof Ohene Adjei who was forced to go on leave following the scandalous missing dead babies’ saga that rocked the hospital recently.
The Ministry of Health in consultation with the KATH Board, settled on Mr Gyimah for the top position, a source at the hospital disclosed.
Mr Gyimah, a product of University of Ghana, until his elevation, was the Administrative Manager of KATH.
His appointment takes effect from April 4, 2014, a close source at the hospital told DAILY GUIDE.
She said the hospital’s staff had been duly told about the appointment of Mr Gyimah.
Mr Gyimah holds a masters degree in hospital management from the University Leeds in the United Kingdom.
The new KATH CEO is a veteran in hospital administration, with experiences spanning three decades.
The paper’s checks at the hospital indicated that the staff of the hospital are relatively comfortable with the new appointment.
Some of the KATH staff that spoke to the paper on condition of anonymity, described Mr Gyimah as a hardworking and a good leader.
They expressed the hope that his appointment would help spur on KATH’s development in terms of providing effective medical care to patients.
