Tweaa DCE still begging

The Chief Imam of Ahafo Ano South District, Alhaji Fuseini Abdulai, has appealed to President John Mahama to reinstate the sacked District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Gabriel Barimma, popularly called ‘Tweaa’ DCE.

According to him, the Imams and members of the Zongo community at Mankranso, the district capital, were saddened by the dismissal of Hon. Barimma by the President.

Addressing a press conference, Alhaji Abdulai described Mr. Barimma as a respectful, accommodating and development-oriented person who lives in peace with members of the Zongo community.

He said Mr Barimma had the development of the area at heart, pointing out that the sacked DCE suffered the fate because of his deep love for the Zongo people in the area.

Alhaji Abdulai claimed staff of the Mankranso Government Hospital discriminated against patients with Muslim names who visited the hospital to seek medical attention.

He claimed the DCE had warned the hospital staff to stop harassing the members of the Zongo community that visited the hospital for treatment and this caused a fracas between him and the hospital staff.

Alhaji Abdulai said it was unfortunate that Mr. Barimma fell prey to the machinations of the hospital staff at a public gathering.

Flanked by opinion leaders in the Zongo community and Muslim clerics, Alhaji Abdulai said the sacked DCE promoted the cause of members of the Zongo community in the area.

He therefore appealed to the President to reinstate Mr Barimma to enable him to continue with his splendid work for the district.

He was of the conviction that the former DCE would effectively promote government’s ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.

“We know as clerics that to err is human; to forgive, divine. So, once again, we are pleading with the President to rescind his decision and reinstate Hon. Barimma as DCE,” he said.
