Four years after Jay Z headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and brought Beyonce out for a surprise duet of “Young Forever,” the power couple once again pulled a fast one (or two) on the Indio music festival, making separate appearances on Saturday night (Apr. 12).
During Solange’s Saturday evening set, the younger Knowles sibling turned up the energy of the Gobi tent with a finale of “Losing You” before Beyonce, without warning, came onstage and stood by Solange’s side. Wearing a black hat and tropical dress, Queen Bey busted out her best moves to “Losing You,” matching Solange’s choreography as more onlookers noticed Solange’s guest star and rushed toward the stage.
Three hours later, Nas ended his midnight set — which ran through his debut album “Illmatic” in honor of its 20th anniversary — by inviting Jay Z onstage to perform “Dead Presidents II.” Hov then played “Where I’m From,” and when Nas ended the set with some of his classic singles, Diddy dropped by to perform “Hate Me Now.”
