Kofi Jumah to CID: Investigate Ministry Of Information; they doctored Mahama’s tape

760851135_213894Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has said that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service should rather investigate the Ministry of Information for the President’s “anti-Ashanti” comments against the people of Kumasi during his three-day visit to the region.

The CID has launched an investigation into the President’s audio tape after the Ministry of Information brought another tape purportedly to be the original voice of the President.

President John Dramani Mahama is heard on the alleged doctored tape according to the Ministry of Information accusing Ashanti’s of ungratefulness.

On the alleged doctored tape, the President said “if his government gold-coated all the roads in Kumasi, the people of Kumasi wouldn’t appreciate that feat”.

His [President] assertion has generated many cacophonies and lots of flak from the people of Kumasi and some politicians.

In a statement signed by Director of Public Relations, ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa, the CID said: “anyone found culpable would be dealt with, according to the laws of the Republic of Ghana”.

He also warned that, “the media and the general public to be circumspect in their reportage and comments on the matter”.

However, speaking on Asempa FM, government critic, Kofi Jumah also known as ‘Kofi Ghana’ still insists that the government’s tape is rather doctored to save the President from further insults.

He urged the CID to rather arrest personnel of the Ministry of Information for doctoring the tape.

“If you listen to the tape carefully, government rather doctored it. What the Ministry Of Information presented is doctored. If ASP Joseph Dankwa wants to cause an arrest, then he should go to the Ministry of Information,” he said.
