A three-member committee has been setup to investigate the alleged embezzlement of funds by the Mayor of Sekondi Takoradi, Capt. Rtd Anthony Cudjoe.
The Sekondi Takoradi Mayor was expected to attend a local government conference in Columbia but he reportedly spent the two-week duration of the conference in his private apartment in Tema.
The report added that he demanded a welcome ceremony when he returned to the assembly after his holidays in Tema instead of his official duty in Columbia.
The three-member Committee headed by the Deputy Western Regional Minister, Alfred Ekow Gyan, is to report their findings to the Regional Minister within 7 working days.
Among other things, the committee is to include all relevant information regarding how much was given to the Mayor, how and when the money was spent.
“I don’t want to limit them to specific areas but they will have to look at how much was taken and the processes by which the money was taken, whether vouchers were raised, whether he took it in the form of cash or a cheque,” said the Western Regional Minister, Paul Evans Paul Aidoo who inaugurated the committee.
