US vice president Joe Biden will attend the USA-Ghana group game at the 2014 World Cup on June 16 in Natal.

His visit to Brazil forms part of an official trip that will also take him to Colombia and the Dominican Republic.

“While in Brazil, the Vice President will attend the June 16th match in Natal between the United States and Ghana, and continue on to Brasilia to meet with President Rousseff and Vice President Michel Temer,” the White House said in a statement.

Ghana have met the Stars and Stripes twice at the global football showpiece and have beaten them on all two occasions. The two countries will play the second Group G game on June 16 after Germany and Portugal had faced off a few hours prior.

The Black Stars are currently in The Netherlands preparing for the Mundial and will take on their hosts on May 31 in a friendly encounter.
