What wrong have we done NDC? K.T. Hammond wonders

29322414.295Ghanaians have been urged to demand answers from the ruling National Democratic Congress on why they only seek excuses for failing to supply Ghanaians adequate power.

Kobina Tahir Hammond, the Ranking Member of the Energy Committee of Parliament says he is at a loss as to what crime members of the public may have committed to warrant the punishment being meted to them by the government.

For him, there is no iota of truth in the reasons being proffered for the continued short supply of energy resulting in the ongoing ‘dumsor dumsor.’ He was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen programme.

On Tuesdays, reports were rife that the Nigerian government has cut back its supply of gas to the country. Gas supply from Nigeria has been instrumental in running most of the generating plants in the country at a relatively cheaper cost, compared to crude oil.

Sources at the Electricity Company of Ghana and GRIDCo told Joy FM in Accra that the recent cuts in gas supply may account for the frequent power cuts being experienced particularly in the capital.

However, KT Hammond insists the government is not telling Ghanaians the truth about the real situation with our power supply. According to him, the Energy Committee of Parliament has had several meetings with the authorities in charge or the nation’s energy sector with each giving different reasons as being the cause of our energy challenges.
