Don’t call Muntari and Kelvin back to Black Stars – Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe

Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is proposing a stiffer punishment for suspended Black Star players, Sulley Ali Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng for being ‘disrespectful and indisciplined’ in camp.

According to him, the ‘headstrong’ players should be “fined and sacked” from the Black Stars team to serve as a deterrent to others.

Sulley Muntari and Kelvin-Prince Boateng have been suspended indefinitely from the team and their accreditation for the 2014 World Cup withdrawn.

A statement issued by the GFA said Sulley Muntari’s suspension followed an unprovoked attack on an Executive Committee member, Moses Armah whilst Kelvin’s followed his “vulgar verbal insults at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session.”

The decision by the FA received mixed reaction from Ghanaians due to the timing. Whilst most people approved of the decision others argued that the sacking of the players few hours before the Portugal game could have an impact on the players.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said the dismissal of the two players was long overdue.

He noted that both Muntari and Kelvin have embarrassed the nation, thus should not be treated with kid gloves.

The former FA boss indicated that both players who ply their trade in top European clubs know perfectly well that they would have had their contracts abrogated for such misconduct because they [European club] attached great importance to player discipline.

“I will be extremely surprised if Sulley Muntari and Kelvin are re-called to the Black Stars” he added.

He also blamed the GFA for pampering especially Kelvin-Prince Boateng “because if the FA had cracked the whip, this wouldn’t have happened”.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe was certain that the absence of the two players would not affect the future performance of the Black Stars since according to him, there are competent players yearning to be in the national team.
