Final year student goes blind 3 days to her BECE

293672825_173511A final year female student, Kunka Lucy, of Fielemuo Junior High School in the Upper West Region suddenly went blind three days before she was due to sit the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The BECE is the first huddle in Ghana’s Educational System for pupils in the Junior High School level.

The 5-day exam began Monday with the English Language paper and will end Friday with ICT paper.

But a tragic drama unfolded and Lucy, hailed by her teachers as a great prospect for good grades, will now not take part in the exams.

She lost her vision on Friday at about 10pm, immediately she picked her books to study ahead of the Monday paper. She was taken to the Gbollu health center but nothing fruitful came out from there.

Her family members are down hearted about her sudden blindness.

The Sissala West District Chief Executive, Moses Dramani Luri encouraged the 18-year-old not to be perturbed about her current situation and promised that everything will be done to restore her vision.
