A nasty incident crowned the opening of the Ghana fun park last Tuesday night when a section of Ghanaian supporters clashed with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
The unfortunate incident occurred when the angry supporters approached the minister for a means of transport back to Ghana village after they were left behind by the hired bus which conveyed the fans to the entertainment programme in Downtown Natal.
Things, however, turned nasty when the Minister told the already apprehensive fans to walk back to the village as their punishment for missing the bus.
The dissatisfied fans flared up, leading to a near confrontation and hot exchange of words, requiring the intervention of some eye-witnesses.
According to the supporters, the minister had earlier announced that an announcement was going to be made when it was time for departure.
Their anger, aside the minister’s response, stemmed from the fact that they did not hear any such announcement only to be told on their return that the bus had left.
That nothwithstanding, all their protestations proved futile as they eventually had to find their way back to the hotel after calm had been restored.
That was after Gyedu Blay Ambolley had treated a jam-packed Ghana-Brazil audience to a rollicking highlife night.
