Police will determine whereabout of Suweiba’s baby – Health Minsitry

Suwaiba-Abdul-620x400-620x330The Ministry of Health says the whereabout of Suweiba Mumin’s missing baby will be determined by the Police after its investigations.

The Ministry’s final report on the issue released on Thursday exonerated the doctor on duty but ordered the suspension of the two midwives who were also on duty the night Suweiba delivered.

The report however, made no mention of the baby.

Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, Tony Goodman said the whereabouts of the baby will be established after police investigations.

He stated that “the body of the baby cannot be found; the orderly who picked them is saying that he deposited them somewhere and that body cannot be found. But the Police is conducting an investigation into the same issue.”

According to him, the Ministry has professionally dealt with the matter and the Police is looking at the criminality in the matter “and we will still be opened to look at their report.”

Meanwhile, the family at the center of the controversy has expressed its disappointed with the recommendations from the Health Ministry.

A brother of Suweiba Mumin, Rahman Mumin in an interview with Citi News, the report made no mention of the baby “and this whole brouhaha is about the baby…and I don’t know if the baby was not the concern to their investigations.”

He suggested that the punishment for the persons involved in the case should have been “stringent” to serve as a deterrent to others due to the magnitude of the issue.
