“Better Ghana” remains an empty and cynical slogan – Nana Akufo-Addo

The 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo has promised to ensure that Ghana works again by rescuing the nation from the “incompetent hands of the NDC.”
According to him, there cannot be a better Ghana when healthcare, education sysytems have all broken down and the cedi is the second worst performing currency in the world.
“There can be no better Ghana when higher taxes, high utility prices, high fuel prices low sales are killing businesses up and down the country, when our young people can’t find jobs, when the government has lost touch with the people and dances to the tune of ‘yentie obiaa’.
“There can be no better Ghana so long as the NDC remains in power.
“There can be no better Ghana with the current clueless and uncaring leadership” he stated.
He said successful programs introduced by the Kufuor administration like the school feeding program, the NHIS and small loan schemes have all collapsed under the National Democratic Congress government.
“In the eight years of NPP leadership, under the outstanding leadership of Kufour, through our pollicies in education, health, youth employment, small loan schemes to name a few, we demonstrated in practical terms that our government had the belief in the responsibility to provide all citizens with skills to create their own wealth.”
Nana Addo was speaking at the launch of his campaign for the party’s presidential ticket for the third time at Akwei House in the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region.
He called on supporters of the NPP to emulate the determination of the founding fathers and focus on getting the NDC government out of office.
” We have to focus on the havoc the Mahama government is wrecking on the populace.
“Two years into the second term, “better Ghana” remains an empty and cynical slogan. There can be no better Ghana when access to healthcare is worse today than it was a year ago. When our cedi is the worst performing in Africa and the second worst in the world,” he added.
The two-time presidential candidate asked supporters of the party to concentrate on peace and unity within the NPP as they reach the final stage of contests in the party.
Nana Addo said he has searched himself and found that the “competitive fire” still burns within him. He said he was fit and ready to compete and campaign to win the 2016 elections for the NPP.
He is contesting to lead the NPP alongside six other candidates. The NPP is expected to whittle the number of presidential aspirants from seven to five in a few days.
The aspirants were all vetted last week.
