The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is wishing all Muslims in the country a happy Eid-Ul-Fitr as they join more than a billion others around the globe to mark the end of Ramadan.
Ramadan is one of the major religious obligations that every Muslim must observe; it is a period of deep supplication and renewal with Allah.
A statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong said: “As we celebrate the culmination of this period of re-dedication, denial and sacrifice (Eid-Ul-Fitr) the NPP wishes to remind all Muslims that the blessings of this period must transcend our trying moment as a country.”
“This is the period when all are enjoined to give alms to the less privileged in society, the young, the elderly and the afflicted. We rejoice in the abundant blessings and mercies that have come our way in this holy month,” the statement added.
According to Mr. Agyepong, “we should be reminded to continue to emphasize the things that bind us together as a nation.”
He expressed the hope that all Muslims would use the occasion to straighten the path of love for all.
“We remind all Ghanaian of all faith that we owe it to ourselves and the nation that in our pursuit of economic development and we should all be guided by the spirit of service, selflessness and sacrifice,” he added.
