Revealed: Kofi Portuphy and Harry Zakour to contest NDC chair

CIMG1496-1024x768-620x330Reports indicate that the National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) Coordinator, Kofi Portuphy is set to declare his intention to contest the national chairmanship position of the NDC.

He will become the second person to declare his intention after former Trade Minister under the Rawlings administration; Dan Abodakpi launched his campaign in June.

Sources within the NDC say the contest will be fierce with Kofi Portuphy declaring his intention.

A Former Chief Executive Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakour has also expressed his interest in contesting the national chairmanship position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him he has received so many calls from the rank and file of the party to contribute his quota in order to retain the NDC in power in the 2016 election.

Mr. Zarkour, who is currently chairman of the Korle Klottey constituency of the NDC, will face stiff competition from Dan Abodakpi and Kofi Portuphy who have all announced their intention to contest the position.

Harry Zarkour told  Citi News  he will formally announce his bid in the coming days.

Citi News  can also report that there is intense maneuvering within the party over who becomes the national chairman.

The NDC has announced October 24 this year as the day it will hold its national delegate congress.
