We’ll lock all school buildings we built – Getfund Contractors to Gov’t

contractors-2-620x330The Getfund Contractors Association is threatening to lock all school buildings they have constructed if government fails to pay outstanding arrears owed  for the work done.

The Association said the lack of payments to its members is impacting negatively on their families.

In an interview with Citi News, a member and contractor of the Getfund Contractors Association, George Agbo, indicated that locking the various schools would be necessary if payments are not made.

“After the demonstration, if nothing is done, we will go to all the schools and close them down. We will go to all the schools and take our keys”.

Meanwhile an intended demonstration scheduled for today by the group has been postponed due to the inability of the association to obtain police permit.

The contractors had threatened to hit the streets today to demonstrate to show the over the inability of the Getfund to pay arrears.

“The demonstration would have come on but because of the ECOWAS summit, that is taking place, the routes have been blocked. After this weekend, we would know what to do.”

Officials of the Getfund however insist that they do not owe the contractors Association any arrears. They claim that they are awaiting the release of funds by the Finance Ministry.
