Chinese businessman shot in Tema

gunA Chinese businessman has been killed by unknown assailants at his construction site at Community 9, opposite the Tema General Hospital.

The deceased who was only identified as ma, a resident of Community 8, Tema, was said have been shot in an uncompleted building behind Imperial Perking.

The assailant reportedly arrived at the scene in a white vehicle together with other Chinese nationals, numbering about four, and shot the deceased.

He was rushed to the Emergency and Accident Centre of the Tema General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His corpse has since been deposited at the 37 military Hospital in Accra, pending autopsy and further investigations.

When DAILY GUIDE arrived at the scene that morning, blood stains from the deceased was seen on the floor and the staircase of the building.

Some workers of the building, which is partially completed, told DAILY GUIDE that the deceased arrived at the site as usual at about 7:30 am to supervise his project.

According to them, after a while the assailant, who usually came to visit the deceased at the site with the white vehicle, also arrived and climbed the stairs to the first floor where the deceased was inspecting some works.

They explained further that a sound was heard from the top floor of the building, but they thought it was a machine they usually used for their construction works.

According to them, after a couple of minutes the owner of the property descended the steps dripping in blood.

The businessman reportedly fell unconscious at the entrance. By then the assailant had left.

Some Chinese nationals who rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, took a pistol the deceased was holding and removed his wrist watch and took two mobile phones from his pocket before he was put into an ambulance and rushed to the Tema General Hospital.

Superintendent Ben Bonkyi, the District Commander of the Community one District Police Headquarters confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE stating that the businessman died at about 9:30. According to him, police had commenced investigation into the matter to apprehend the perpetrators of the act.

He therefore appealed to the public, especially residents of Tema to furnish the police with information that would lead to the arrest of the assailants.
