The Ghana international has revealed that he almost signed for Nice but had to look towards Lorient eventually due to delays on the part of the former
Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has said he was in a pole position to join Nice before he sealed a deal with Lorient.
The forward, who spent last season on loan at Sochaux in the French Ligue 1, revealed that his interest was in Nice, however, the club delayed in ironing out a few things in the contract hence his decision to join Lorient.
“I’m going to be honest – I’d given my word to Nice,” Ayew told BeIN Sports. “But Nice couldn’t strike an agreement with Marseille, and I didn’t want to wait too long because I didn’t want to miss the start of the season.”
The 22-year-old former Marseille striker is expected to make his debut when Lorient face Monaco on Sunday.
